Our new forest friend

Hello all!

Sara here with some updates on our recent backyard events. It was a calm Saturday morning for all of 7 minutes before we looked outside and noticed that the Chicago storms from the previous night had knocked down a giant Weeping Willow tree in our backyard. We live on a creek with an abundance of trees, but this tree in particular has been pretty much dead for the past 10 years. Over the years we've had hail, and blizzards, and strong gusting winds, and floods, but never has this tree budged. Needless to say, we just got all of our landscaping redone on Thursday (it had been damaged/drowned in the major flood we had last September) so everything was finally coming together, and summer was finally here.

Well, the tree fell on top of the landscaping.

While we were examining the damage, we attracted some company who wanted to partake in the investigation as well. Now we've had raccoons, opossums, turtles, and every type of bird under the sun in our backyard, but this was Bambi's first time visiting our Chicago suburban home. We were surprised at how calm and friendly it was, since I got pretty close to it while I was snapping some pictures. I was especially surprised at how calm it was considering my dad was throwing it pieces of bread (one of which hit the deer in the head by accident) while my mom was screaming at him, "Don't feed the deer, you'll get rabies!"

It was an eventful morning.

Thanks for letting me share my two cents,

Sara

My Camera Is A Hoot /Blog Candy

Sooooo, I went out today and bought a new camera, the Canon Rebel T1i. I want to use it for my cards and for regular family pics. I tried taking close ups of my cards and it does not zoom far enough in, sooooo I go and spend more of DH $$$$$ and buy a zoom lens, now it wont let me shoot that close I have to be farther away. Anyway I think I took about 300 pictures of this card and this is about the best one. It's a good thing I love this adorable Suink You're A Hoot set, because I have looked at this image all day! I will tell you what, tell me honestly what you think of this pic and Tuesday night I will pick a random entry and you could win the You're a Hoot set!
